Thank you to all those that took part in the public consultation during the summer. We are considering all of the responses as part of preparing the planning applications. The consultation helped to inform the finalisation of the Framework Masterplan which was endorsed by Taunton Deane Borough Council's Full Council on 15th December. The Framework Masterplan will now be a material planning consideration.

Framework Plan and Development Brief Document out for Public Consultation

The project team have been working on a comprehensive Framework Masterplan covering the entirety of the site.  This high-level masterplan reflects the requirements of both the Core Strategy and the emerging Site Allocations Development Management Plan which provides further draft detail on the proposed urban extension at Staplegrove.

The Framework Masterplan was presented to Community Scrutiny and Executive Committees on 2nd and 3rd December 2014 and approved for wider consultation over a 6 week period.  PM Asset Management and Ptarmigan are now seeking views from the general public on these initial proposals for the urban extension at Staplegrove.

The document sets out the broad location for housing and associated physical, social and green infrastructure required by the Core Strategy.  The teams are committed to working alongside the Borough Council, stakeholders and the community to develop a high-quality urban extension that meets the needs of the local population.

What happens next?

It is important to note that this is the start of the masterplanning process. Further more detailed design information that will be issued as part of a public consultation event later in the year. Comments made on the draft Framework Masterplan at this stage will be considered by the Sites’ Promoters who will present a finalised Framework Masterplan back to the Council for approval.

What can you do now?

At this stage we welcome your views on the initial Framework Masterplan and Development Brief (link below).

  • What do you think about the locations of the particular land uses and facilities within the site?
  • Do you think that the Framework Masterplan takes into account all constraints?
  • Do you think the site should include any other services and facilities?
  • Are there any other issues the Framework Masterplan needs to consider?

Representations can be made:

Consultation is open until 17:00 26th February 2015.

The document can also be viewed online from here: http://consultldf.tauntondeane.gov.uk

For further information relating to the promoters or the proposals you can email us at staplegrove@origin3.co.uk.

Please note that the principle of this kind of development at Staplegrove has already been established and agreed in Taunton Deane Borough Council’s Core Strategy following a consultation exercise. Therefore, we’d be grateful if comments consist of views and observations on the Masterplan rather than whether or not development should take place.
